Over the past few weeks, my family and I have seen a number of family members, friends, and neighbors who have family members pass away. Each time it seems that the family was not prepared for this loss. Many of those left behind did not know anything about the family finance and/or where to find the important documents that were needed for the family that was left to survive.
As a financial advisor, tax preparer, and insurance agent, I can assist families in how to prepare and protect their money, but nothing prepares yourself for what happens after a loss of a family member. Each loss is hard enough without the added burden of worrying about “what now”. Is there enough money to pay for the funeral? How do the remaining members of the family survive? Where are all the important papers?
To help, I have put together a Red Folder of information. I am using this in my family and hope you do the same.
